RIP FinisterreWe loved you man by De Management In a tragic loss, felt worldwide, the Met Office has announced the death of our old friend and fellow sea area Finisterre. Born in 1949, Finisterre was a brave and hardy shipping forecast area. A friendly giant, frequently described by observers as moderate, he suffered all his life from poor sight which occasionally sparked a sudden change in direction. A turning point in his life occurred in 1956, with the loss of sister Heligoland to the Germans. But despite the arrival of a new cousin, German Bight, Finisterre never recovered from the loss. Tragically, Finisterre only learned he had a twin living in Spain when he was already close to death. The two never met. Finisterre is survived by Fitzroy. The funeral will take place this week and will be attended by the whole family: Viking, North Utsire, South Utsire, Forties, Cromarty, Forth, Tyne, Dogger, Fisher, German Bight, Humber, Thames, Dover, Wight, Portland, Plymouth, Biscay, Trafalgar, Sole, Lundy, Fastnet, Irish Sea, Shannon, Malin, Hebrides, Bailey, Fair Isle, Faeroes, Southeast Iceland and, of course, Rockall.
