Come to Argentina! Where living is easy!

Pondering where to go on holiday this year? Look no further

by The Argentinian Tourist Board

Wondering where to go on holiday this year? Why not try somewhere different?

From the packed streets of Buenos Aires to the freezing cold wastelands of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina has something for everyone. And thanks to recent currency fluctuations, there's never been a better time to visit.

As you wander down the main street in Buenos Aires, stop to marvel at the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo — known affectionately as the Mothers of the Disappeared —. Or why not pop into one of the many fine cafes where the proprietor will be delighted to take your order, especially if you have US dollars.

Stroll down the world-famous Caminito street in the most dangerous part of the city — it only takes about 20 seconds. Or be pickpocketed by one of the hundreds of street children. The choice is yours.

Your money will go further in Argentina because they haven't got any of it

Visit the markets and see men and women act out the country's traditional dance — the ever-popular Bomba de la Gasolina, which has its roots in Tango. Or search endlessly for the grave of Eva Peron in the Cementario de la Recoleta and then be disappointed.

And if you are really lucky you may get to see one of the traditional riots that Argentina is famed for — take a camera and get beaten up by the police! Or book in advance and catch the monthly resignation of the president.

Since this earthly paradise has failed to secure loans from the International Monetary Fund, the traveller will find an excellent rate of exchange in the country, making a luxurious life within the reach of nearly everyone. In the last few weeks alone, the price of an armed bodyguard has fallen by over 60 per cent!

When you do visit however, you are advised to bring lots of cash with you in small denominations as the country's laws mean banks only open for short periods of time every other month.

So why not eschew Spain or Italy this year? Come to Argentina — where living is easy and the mainland mostly populated by impoverished ex-Nazis.
