Rockall takes centre stage in TV World Cup programme

Despite humiliation, Denmark presses claim on volcanic islet
by Nigel Pearce

Despite a sound thrashing at the hands of England's footballers, Denmark has continued to press its claim on Rockall.

The incredible assertion was given airtime by ex-talent Johnny Vaughan on his World Cup Extra programme shown last Wednesday night on BBC1. His guests — including former England player Matt Le Tissier and manager John Gregory — looked visible shocked as Vaughan gave them the grim news of Denmark's unjust claim. For several seconds both were unable to look down Denise Van Outen's breast-based dress.

Denise Van Outen: Celebrity bust Denise — a friend and former co-host with Vaughan on breakfast TV — was on the show to plug her new record with former singing star Andy Williams — also one of the show's guests.

Despite Williams' best efforts to pretend to know nothing about "socker", the Rockall question remained high on the agenda.

An angry supporter told The Rockall Times: "It is an absolute disgrace. It's one thing to have the Danes kicking up a fuss over Rockall even after a second-round arse-whupping, but to stick someone on the BBC World Cup Extra show who knows nothing about our beautiful game is nothing short of a national scandal. It shouldn't be allowed in future. Unless of course it is a busty babe in a tight low-cut dress that you can leer at."
