500 million people without hope

Some of you might find this hard to believe, but there are 500 million people living in sub-Saharan Africa without access to clean water or electricity, let alone a decent 5.1 surround sound DVD home entertainment system.
How, for the love of God, can we justify that in the 21st century whole nations have never even heard of the U2 Zooropa tour, let alone seen it on a 28-inch plasma screen?
I have made it my personal crusade to see every African child with at least a CD-Walkman within the next twenty years, and I expect world leaders to offer their full support. If they don't, I'm going to go round there and talk them into submission. Failing that, I'll record a scathing attack on globalisation with my mate Sting. That'll teach 'em.
