Stevie Wonder sues own parents over $19m scam
Truth hidden from performer for 36 years
by Colin Mitchell
Stevie Wonder yesterday announced that he is to seek restitution to the value of $19 million from his own family for their 36-year faith scam.
According to sources close to the family, Stevie has severed all ties with his parents, Gloria and Stevie Sr for their part in a deception that meant that from an early age the talented entertainer was convinced he was a white Jew.
As a Jew, his parents told him, he was required to pay 15 per cent of his net income weekly to his local synagogue, in return for good seats and 100 per cent guaranteed salvation.
That money, the court will hear, was illegally siphoned into a slush fund to pay the hefty bills created by Stevie Sr's competition on the helicopter demolition derby circuit with pals Hugh Hefner and Aristotle Onasis.
Wonder only discovered the truth when his rersonal dresser accidentally revealed to the pop icon that he was blacker than Louis Farrakhan. Claus Titter broke down and confessed to Wonder that his years of having the last laugh dressing him in shell suits and lederhosen, had only tarnished his professional reputation rather than crating a merry prankster air.
Wonder quickly smelt a rat. Being an avid fan of quiz show The Weakest Link, Wonder knew full well the only Black/Jewish entertainer to have prospered was Sammy Davies Junior. On confronting his father, the old man admitted the truth, before quickly embarking on an evening of bunny girl action aboard a 200-foot Greek yacht.
Wonder is reported to be "shocked and surprised" at the discovery of his true origins, although he is understood to have no plans to revaluate his faith and fully intends to carry out his short "brotherhood" tour of Israel later this month.
