Prince Charles 'inundated' with government correspondence

Anger over large number of ministerial complaints
by Alan Roberts

Royal sources have sensationally leaked extracts of letters sent from government ministers to the Prince of Wales.

The unprecedented action has stunned many who were unaware of the huge number of complaints the Prince receives each week from his mother's government.

Chief among the letter-writers have been Lord Chancellor Lord Irvine and the prime minister Tony Blair. Following the "Liberty and Livelihood" march which saw Tony Blair attacked and assailed, the prime minster wrote: "After all I have done for Britain this kind of behaviour is most upsetting. If it continues I may consider leaving the country and moving to Tuscany permanently."

The Lord Chancellor has complained about numerous topics including the large amount of money wasted at Buckingham Palace. Last month he wrote: "Reports indicate that the Queen has been using B&Q's top-of-the-range wallpaper. As far as I am concerned this is an extravagance too far and I intend to deduct it from her allowance."

However, Prince Charles — speaking at the annual "Kill a Fox for the Lord Harry and Saint George" awards — denied that he had a problem with this "exchange of views". "It is only right that in a democracy one's government should seek the guidance of its monarch on all matters corporal and spiritual," he noted. "Having said that, if Mr Blair sends me one more of his whining emails, one is going to go round there and tear him a new asshole. No, really."

Go on then, hard man
