Argentinian president plans charity singleNightclub blaze survivors to benefit from Kirchner re-release by our Latin-American arts correspondent Argentinian president Nestor Kirchner is to release a charity single in aid of the survivors of the Buenos Aires nightclub fire which claimed 177 victims, we can exclusively reveal. The unprecedented move comes amid angry accusations that Kirchner buggered off on holiday following the disaster at the Cromagnon club — described as the "worst in Argentinian history" excluding, naturally, the 1982 sinking of the General Belgrano. Kirchner has chosen to rerecord the timeless Trammps' classic Disco Inferno backed by an impressive roster of international talent flown in especially for the session. El prez will himself take the lead vocal, kicking off with the immortal:
We can, however, confirm that Kirchner will omit the lines: "Satisfaction (uhu hu hu) came in the chain reaction (burnin'); I couldn't get enough, (till I had to self-destroy); so I had to self destruct, (uhu hu hu)" as a mark of respect to the relatives of those who died. Disco Inferno goes on sale in all good Buenos Aires record emporia from Wednesday. It costs 1,500,000 pesos (25p) of which 250 pesos go directly to survivors' support groups and the remainder to offshore bank accounts in the Seychelles. Previously
