Sobbing Ian Paisley pays tribute to JP2

The King of Heaven has made His decree

by How Tenji in Belfast

During an all-night session of prayer and remembrance for the recently-deceased Supreme Pontiff, Dr Ian Paisley yesterday gave a moving tribute to Pope John Paul II and the Papacy in general. "As Son of Perdition, the Antichrist is the heir of perdition. It was written of him before he arose: 'He goeth unto perdition,'" said an visibly-distraught Paisley.

Pausing to kiss the proffered baby of a unionist supporter, Dr Paisley continued his heartfelt tribute by observing: "The King of Heaven has made His decree and it altereth not. As sure as the Papacy has had its glory so surely shall its doom come. The destruction of the Pope is twofold: 'Whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming.’”

Consumed by the spirit of Christian love and reconciliation, Paisley went on to explain that the duality of doom has been noted in prophecy ever since the beginning of the little horn of Daniel chapter seven: "We read in verse 26 that the judgement shall sit and they shall take away his dominion to consume and destroy it unto the end. Here is yet another proof that the 'little horn' of Daniel Chapter 7 is the Antichrist of Paul," he stammered through barely-controlled sobs.

Composing himself with some difficulty he continued: "The doom is in two stages: (1) gradual and (2) sudden and terrible destruction. The gradual consuming is by 'the spirit of the Lord's mouth', that is the spreading of the Word of God. Ever since the Bible has been translated this has been going forward. The Reformation displayed to men the damnable errors of Rome, and its hold on the nations was loosened. When the Word is not proclaimed the Pope will flourish.

"But the destruction of Rome in totality will be sudden and terrible. Leaving His seat of glory Christ will confront the Antichrist personally and hurl him into perdition with all his priests and his whole apparatus of antichristianity. God speed the day," he concluded with considerable tact and feeling.

Acknowledging the firm line taken by Pope John Paul II on human rights issues and his instrumental role in the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe, the Reverend Doctor concluded his address with a quotation from Revelations:

And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. Revelation 18:2.

"Then and only then will the 'Hallelujahs' of the saints ring forth," thundered a tear-wracked Paisley as he was helped from the room by his family and friends en route to a candlelit vigil for JP2 at Belfast's St Peter's Catholic Cathedral.
