There's a brief synopsis of the historic event plus some lovely pics for your viewing pleasure right here. We'll publish the full-fat picture gallery and some more details of our assault in the near future. In the meantime, it's time for all of you out there who have enjoyed The Rockall Times for the last few years without paying a penny for the privilege to prise open your wallets and give a little for our chosen charity — the MEdia initiative of Mental Health Media. A quick shufti at our dedicated Justgiving page shows that we are presently at a respectable £3 grand-ish, and we thank all those generous people who have already deployed the plastic in aid of others less fortunate than themselves. Actually, we're at quite a bit more than 3k because of the terrific efforts of Mark Valentine and Bernard Pearson who designed a Rockall stamp and first day cover and are selling them like hot cakes through Discworld stamps. At the same time, the ham radio boys who "activated" Rockall — James Cameron and David Woods — have been collecting the cash from all those lucky, lucky people who were among the first few hundred ever to be contacted from the world's remotest islet. And there are others who deserve rispek, too, notably The Rockall Times' magnificent contributors who selflessly lock themselves in darkened rooms each week with nothing more than some lukewarm water and dried biscuits for nourishment in order to bring you the very finest in North Atlantic satire. They don't get paid a penny for their efforts, and, contrary to what some readers seem to believe, The Rockall Times is not run from a luxury beachside property in Barbados. You can see where this is leading. Were we to charge a subscription, it might be, say, £10 a year. But we don't want this money. We want you to get down to Justgiving and cough up the few quid you might otherwise have paid to enjoy The Rockall Times each and every week. We thank you in the certain anticipation of your generous support. More Rockall Ho! 2005
