Sky TV terror poll stuns pundits

Shock result of War on Terror™ survey

by Siobhan O'Semtex

A Sky TV poll over the weekend has left political and strategic planners reeling after revealing what the British public really though about the War on terror™. The survey, entitled "Has the War on Terror left you feeling...", offered three provocative options: a) More safe; b) Less safe; and c) no different.

By the time the revealing probe closed, a shocking 58 per cent of people said they felt less safe, with just six per cent saying they slept sounder in their beds. A programme insider admitted: "Despite the recent events in London, buses blowing up in Israel and Turkey and around 1,000 an hour getting blown limb-from-limb in Iraq, we really couldn't have predicted this result. It's quite a shock."

Indeed, a visibly-shocked strategic commentator told The Rockall Times: "This will provoke a complete re-examination of the UK's defence paradigm, make no mistake." He then made for the drinks cabinet to pour an enormous brandy in a desperate attempt to calm his rattled nerves.

Following the resounding success of its WOT™ poll, Sky TV plans a further series of revealing insights into the state of the nation, including polls entitled "Would you like to be blown up on the Tube" ("Yes", "No" or "Erm..."), "Do you think trying to catch suicide bombers before they blow up is a good idea" ("Yes", "Maybe" and "It depends...") and "Abi Titmuss — Big on tits, low on talent?" ("Yes", "Yes" and "Yes but I'd shag it anyway").
