Just who is Deep Throat II?
New party game sweeps Washington cocktail party circuit

Washington, D.C. — The newest party game sweeping the Washington insiders' cocktail party circuit is "Who is Deep Throat II?" Just when Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation appeared to hit a brick wall, the Washington Post's editor, Bob Woodward, back-flipped and admitted that a "highly placed official" told him about Valerie Plame months before the New York Times broke the story in June 2003.
The identity of the original Deep Throat was an object of speculation for more than thirty years, and the insider intelligence he provided of internal spies, secret surveillance, dirty tricks and coverups led to the downfall of Richard M. Nixon. Robert Redford played Woodward in the movie.
Among the "highly-placed officials" who have denied being Deep Throat II are Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. A "close aide" to the Secretary said: "Connie doesn't even know Woodward."
National Security Advisor, Stephen Hadley, refuses to divulge if he was Woodward's source. At a news conference on Friday in Busan, Korea, where he's traveling with the President, who needed to get out of town for a while, Hadley commented: " Some administration officials say I'm not the leaker; others aren't so sure." When asked if that was a yes or a no, Hadley said: "It is what it is."
A former Pentagon official who declined to be named also vehemently denied telling Woodward that Ms. Plame "is a secret CIA analyst on weapons of mass destruction". However, the official did admit to formulating the Bush administration's response to terrorism and writing the protocol for the U.S. global peace initiative, which is probably why he declined to give his name.
Another source, a "top Capitol Hill insider", said that Vice President Dick Cheney is not Deep Throat II. "Phone logs show Dick did not speak to Woodward on the day in question, although they 'may have sat next to each other' in the Owner's Box at a Redskins game on Monday night."
Speculation continues as to the identity of Deep Throat II and, more importantly, who will play Woodward this time in the movie.
