Apoplectic under-10s boss slams press
'Blind hatred of all this club has achieved'

In an extraordinary outburst, the boss of Virginia Water Girls Under-10s side has condemned the press for "Blind hatred of all this club has achieved".
Harold Duckworth-Lewis, accused the local media of hating his club in an angry outburst ahead of Wednesday's crucial derby against Egham Girls Under-10s. "They have a loathing of Virginia Water," said Duckworth-Lewis, who later ended a hastily-called news conference set for the local reporter before a single question had been asked.
"It's always been there. It goes with the territory, I suppose, of us being such a high profile club in this part of Surrey. I understand it a bit but they go too far. They try to fragment the club. I had the same sort of problem at Dyce Infant School." Duckworth-Lewis was in charge of the highly Dyce side when they played in the ultra-competitive Aberdeen District League before being lured down south by a multi-pound salary and the promise of free tickets to the annual Surrey Garden Fair.
Duckworth-Lewis, speaking in a near-empty car park, added: "I think our fans are aware of that and I don't think they will fall into that trap."
Water have come in for harsh criticism after their North Surrey Victors League exit and last week's 0-0 draw against newly-promoted Ascot Tigresses. They lie 12 points behind Chertsey in the table but can close the gap with victory in their game in hand against Egham.
And Duckworth-Lewis defended his side's league form. "We have all got a problem because Chertsey's consistent form makes it difficult to win the league," he said. "If you look at our present points total, it's better than four of the last six seasons at this time of year. Most of the teams below Chertsey will be thinking that in a normal season they are doing quite well. But obviously the Chertsey consistency is a problem for all of us, not just for Virginia Water. It's just not fair."
