What is MEdia? We asked Mental Health Media the same thing and this is what they told us: "Switching the TV on and off. Surfing the net. Seeing realistic role models in weekly mags. Sending an /Angry of Tunbridge Wells/ or /Delighted of Stoke Newington/ letter to the local paper. Putting up a website tribute to Cher. "Most of us take for granted that we can enjoy these simple pleasures, but for people with learning difficulties there are considerable barriers to each of these activities. "MEdia has four strands of work designed to help people with learning difficulties to make better use of the media by improving their experiences as media:
"MEdia was fantastically grateful to get the generous donation from Rockall Ho! 2003. This was used to buy equipment to help us train people on the internet and also with the use of video. This helps make people more independent and also enriches their lives." Which should just about cover it. If you want to know more MEdia visit their website at ldmedia.org.uk. You can donate right now to the Rockall Ho! 2005 charity appeal at our dedicated Justgiving.com page. Funds from UK donors will be boosted by an additional 28 per cent which Justgiving claims back from the Inland Revenue. Good show.
